Protesters Vandalize APC Secretariat in Rivers

The secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the opposition party in Rivers State, Southern Nigeria, has been vandalized by protesters. The office building was attacked on Monday evening, the fifth day of the ongoing protests against the economic hardship in the country.

According to the state’s APC caretaker committee chairman, Tony Okocha, the secretariat was targeted in a coordinated attack. He accused the state government of being behind the incident, claiming the protesters were sponsored to damage the party’s image.

“They (the attackers) left us with a note that they are coming back again. We don’t know whether their coming back again will be today or in the future,” Okocha said on Tuesday.

The party’s spokesperson further alleged that the attack was aimed at disparaging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, both of whom are prominent members of the APC.

However, the Rivers State government has denied any involvement in the attack, describing the allegations as baseless. The government has called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
