Troops Take Down Wanted Terrorist in Gun Battle

Nigerian military forces killed a high-profile terrorist, Odumegwu, during a gun battle in Taraba State on Monday, according to officials. Odumegwu was identified as the second-in-command to notorious terrorist leader Fullfire, who operates along the Taraba and Benue State border.

Assistant spokesperson for the 6th Brigade, Olubodunde Oni, reported that the troops engaged the terrorists near Ukum county in Benue, resulting in Odumegwu’s death. Several other terrorists reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, ammunition, mobile phones, and talisman.

The military said the operation was part of a series of coordinated efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and ensure the safety and security of Taraba State residents. Odumegwu was on the wanted list of security agencies for his involvement in terrorist activities in Taraba and Benue States.
