Following the death of notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Halilu Sububu, the group has swiftly appointed Kachalla Sanda, also known as Dan Kwallisa, as their new leader. Sanda previously served as Sububu’s second-in-command and will now lead the organization after his predecessor was killed in a military operation in Zamfara State.
Sububu, a major figure in the ongoing violence in Nigeria’s northwestern region, was responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and criminal activities. His death, however, has not slowed the group’s operations.
TruthNigeria earlier reported that the group congregated to observe prayers for their slain leader. “The terrorists have started a three-day prayer for Kachalla Sububu,” said Bashiru Altine Guyawa, a security analyst. “After the prayers, they’ll elect a new leader to replace Sububu.”
Sanda’s promotion solidifies his control over the group’s extensive criminal network, which continues to operate in the Zamfara region, particularly in Zurmi County. His appointment reflects the resilience of these extremist organizations, which can quickly regroup despite the loss of key figures and highlights the enduring threat these groups pose, despite military efforts to dismantle their networks.
