President Tinubu Applauds Military for Killing Bandit Leader Halilu Buzu, Pledges Continued Support

President Bola Tinubu has praised the Nigerian military for its recent successes in the fight against terrorism in the northwest. In a press release on September 14, the President commended the troops for eliminating notorious bandit leader Halilu Buzu, who had been terrorizing Zamfara State and surrounding areas.

Halilu Buzu, declared wanted in May for his role in the killing of 19 people, was killed during an operation by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji. Just a day before his death, Buzu had urged other bandit groups to target security forces rather than civilians.

President Tinubu also commended the military for freeing 13 kidnapped students in Kaduna and taking down another terrorist leader, Sani Wala Burki, in Katsina. He assured continued support for the military and urged them to maintain their efforts until peace is fully restored.

“These successes further assure us that our security forces are up to the task,” Tinubu added. Additionally, Defense Chief General Christopher Musa has announced a cash reward of ₦1 million for the troops involved in the killing of Buzu.
