Soldier Dies During Terrorist Attack on Nigerian Forces in Zamfara

A Nigerian soldier was killed on Sunday during an ambush by terrorists on troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State, according to a report by counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama.

The attack took place along the Gurusu-Gwashi road in Gwashi, Anka County (Local Government Area). Troops engaged the attackers in a heavy gunfight, forcing the terrorists to retreat. “Tragically, one soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter as he attempted to flank the attackers,” the report stated.

Reinforcements were quickly mobilized from a nearby military base, but by the time they arrived, the terrorists had already fled the scene.

This incident is the latest in a series of ongoing clashes between Nigerian forces and insurgents in Nigeria’s Northwest region, where military operations continue to combat terrorist activity.
