A bold attack on Department of State Services (DSS) assets in Bassa community, Shiroro County of Niger State, North Central Nigeria, was met with fierce resistance on September 11, 2024, resulting in heavy losses for the bandits.
According to intelligence sources, more than 100 armed bandits launched the assault, but the DSS fought back hard. Unfortunately, two DSS officers were killed in the fight.
The Nigerian Air Force quickly stepped in, delivering a series of airstrikes that caused significant damage to the attackers. By the latest count, at least 28 bodies of the bandits had been recovered, though many more were reported to be scattered across the area.
Along with the dozens of attackers dead, security forces recovered several weapons and motorcycles used by the bandits during the attack. Despite the tragic loss of two DSS officers, the response dealt a major blow to the attackers, authorities reported.
