At least one soldier was killed, and four others were wounded in an ambush by terrorists in Maru County of Zamfara State on September 21, 2024.
According to a report from Zagazola Makama, the troops from Sector 1 were attacked while on patrol and escorting soldiers on leave, as well as civilian vehicles heading to a local market along the Dansadau-Yar Galadima road.
The ambush happened around noon near the Mashayar Zaki area. One soldier lost his life, while the four injured personnel were promptly evacuated to the 1 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment. Additionally, one of the patrol vehicles sustained damage during the attack.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks in Zamfara as security forces continue to contend with terrorist activity in the Northwest State.
