The Nigeria Police Force has reported the arrest of a major arms dealer in Plateau State and over 1,200 criminal suspects nationwide since October 1.
Among the key arrests was that of Jubril Musa, an alleged arms supplier to bandits and kidnappers, who was detained with a Makarov pistol, a fabricated pistol, and various rounds of live ammunition, including 7.62mm and 9mm calibers. Musa reportedly admitted to supplying arms in Plateau State.
In a nationwide crackdown, police apprehended 371 armed robbery suspects, 186 kidnappers, 242 homicide suspects, and 217 alleged rapists. Police also recovered 210 firearms, over 3,100 rounds of ammunition, and 118 stolen vehicles. Additionally, 64 kidnapping victims were rescued across the country.
Inspector-General Egbetokun asserted the police’s commitment to public safety, noting the implementation of intelligence-led tactics and community engagement strategies.
