The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reported that its special squad killed 50 Boko Haram fighters during an ambush in Kaduna State on Monday. The attack unfolded at 3:40 p.m. local time in the Farin-Kasa area of Chikun County while the squad escorted expatriates from a mining site.
The team, composed of 80 personnel from the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Federal Capital Territory Command, and Kaduna State Command, was ambushed by over 200 fighters.
“The operatives repelled the attack and successfully killed more than 50 of the terrorists in the crossfire,” said NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi. He confirmed that seven officers remain missing, and efforts are ongoing to locate them. Injured personnel are receiving medical care.
The ambush followed the squad’s surveillance of national grid installations, a response to recent attacks causing nationwide power outages. “The NSCDC will not be deterred by any attack by terrorists or saboteurs,” Afolabi noted.
