Kaduna Governor Calls for Youth Involvement in Northern Nigeria’s Fight Against Insecurity

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called for the strategic involvement of youths in efforts to address insecurity in northern Nigeria.

“In the development of marshal plans, security plans, or frameworks, northern states’ governments and stakeholders must strategically engage the youths,” he said. “Their full involvement will surely be a game-changer in our fight against insecurity and tackling of our developmental challenges.”

Sani lamented the toll of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping on northern communities, adding that these issues have left the region underdeveloped. He said the youths have been “terribly impacted by the activities of non-state actors.’’

“Before 2016, people could travel freely in the north without fear of being attacked,” the Governor recalled, blaming leaders for failing to implement programmes to address poverty, infrastructure gaps, and disunity. “If we fail to retrace our steps… we may not be able to sleep in our houses in the next five years,” he warned.
