A joint team of police, military personnel, and local security volunteers rescued 36 farmers abducted by bandits in Danko/Wasagu County of Kebbi State, Northwest Nigeria.
Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the incident in a statement.
He revealed that the bandits, in large numbers, had blocked the Mairairai/Bena Road and kidnapped farmers returning from their fields.
“The joint security team was mobilised to the scene and engaged the bandits in a gun duel. The team overpowered the bandits who escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.
Abubakar added that all 36 victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families. He did not specify when the abduction and rescue took place.
