Bomb Blast Kills 6, Injures 8 in Northwest Nigeria

A bomb explosion on Wednesday claimed six lives and injured eight others along the Gusau–Dansadau road in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria. The explosive device, planted by the Lakurawa jihadists, detonated when a Volkswagen Golf 3 car ran over it, with the vehicle completely destroyed.  According to the Zamfara police command on Thursday, the Lakurawa terrorist group set the explosive that destroyed a civilian vehicle off along the Gusau-Dansadau road in Maru LGA

“It was this morning, one Golf 3 vehicle stepped on the bomb and exploded. We have six dead bodies here now and eight others sustained injuries,” said Abdullahi Dansadau, a local resident.

This marks the second explosion on the same route within a week. Last Sunday, a commercial driver was killed in a similar attack, according to Daily Trust.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the incident, with Brig. Gen. Timothy Opurum, Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Gusau, stating: “I have instructed the troops to go there for assessment.” Security forces have been deployed, but locals fear the growing use of explosives will worsen Zamfara’s ongoing insecurity.
