Infamous Bandit Leader Yellow Jambros Turns Himself In, A Year After Reported Death

The Nigerian Defense Headquarters (DHQ) announced on Saturday that Yellow Jambros, a notorious kidnap kingpin, has surrendered to military forces. This declaration comes nearly a year after the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported killing him in an airstrike.

Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, said Jambros was among several terrorist leaders and commanders who have recently surrendered due to intensified military operations.

“Notable terrorists that have surrendered include Yellow Jambros, Alhaji Mallam, Ardo Idi, Lawal Kwalba, Salkado, Yellow Ibrahim, Gana’e, and Babangida,” Buba stated, though he did not specify when these surrenders took place.

The NAF previously claimed Jambros was killed in December 2023 during an airstrike in Shiroro, Niger State, targeting his gang.

Buba also reported that, within the last week, military forces killed 135 terrorists, arrested 185 suspects, and rescued 129 kidnap victims. Additionally, 113 weapons and over 2,400 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Buba added that the military remains committed to sustaining its operational momentum to force more surrenders and eliminate terrorist threats across Nigeria.
