The Nigerian police saved the day during two daring rescue operations, freeing 20 almost-kidnapped victims after thwarting two separate kidnapping attempts in Jibia and Faskari Counties in Katsina State.
Police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement, detailed the incidents that took place on December 7. In the first incident, armed attackers targeted a passenger vehicle, attempting to abduct its 10 occupants.
Acting on a tip-off, officers swiftly responded, engaging the assailants in a gunfight. The attackers fled with gunshot injuries, leaving all passengers unharmed. “All 10 occupants of the vehicle were successfully rescued unhurt”, Sadiq explained.
Later that evening, another passenger vehicle was ambushed in a separate location. Once again, police intervened, forcing the criminals to abandon their plans.
“Unfortunately, one of the rescued victims was rushed to the hospital due to severe assault inflicted on him by the assailants,” Sadiq said.
