  • Nigeria’s Lawmakers Order Nationwide Ban on Porn Websites

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has ordered the country’s telecom regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to block all pornographic websites nationwide. The NCC oversees internet and telecom services in Nigeria.

The directive, issued during Tuesday’s plenary session, requires internet providers to restrict access to adult content, The Punch reported. Rep. Dalhatu Tafoki, who represents the Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency in Katsina State, sponsored the motion, calling it a move to “protect societal values.”

He argued, “Nigeria is a highly religious country, and all the major religions in the country forbid nudity and obscenity in any form.” Tafoki also warned of the psychological and social consequences of pornography, linking it to “adultery, prostitution, and other promiscuous behaviors.”

The House assigned its Committees on Communications and Legislative Compliance to oversee enforcement. Speaker Tajudeen Abass warned that internet service providers who fail to comply will face sanctions.

  • Protests Erupt in Benue State After Killings, Palace Set on Fire

Violence broke out in Naka, Benue State, on Tuesday as angry youths set fire to the palace of a local traditional ruler and parts of the County’s headquarters.

The unrest followed the killing of three members of the Benue Civil Protection Guards, a state-backed security force that helps protect local communities from attacks. The men were reportedly killed by armed herders in the nearby village of Garuwa.

The victims’ bodies were brought to Naka early Tuesday, triggering protests that quickly escalated into destruction.

The violence comes amid recent attacks by Fulani ethnic militia on Christian communities in Benue. TruthNigeria reported that at least 15 Christians were killed in coordinated attacks in three communities on March 8.

  • Nigerian Military Kills Armed Bandits in Airstrikes, Ground Battle

Nigerian security forces have launched deadly attacks on armed bandits in two states, striking at the heart of criminal groups terrorizing rural communities.

On March 11, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out precision airstrikes on bandit hideouts in Radaga and Hana Wanka communities, Niger State. A battle damage assessment confirmed that several militants were killed in the operation.

In another operation in Zamfara State, Nigerian Army troops and Askarawa—a government-backed militia—repelled an attack on Mada town. “I can confirm that several of the bandits were killed with no casualties on our gallant troops,” a security source, who spoke to Zagazola Makama, said.

Weapons and operational motorbikes were recovered, and authorities say additional troops have been deployed to the locations to prevent further attacks.

  • Suspected Herdsmen Attack Nigerian Village Over Mango Tree Dispute

Suspected herdsmen attacked the village of Farin Dutse in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, early Monday, leaving several people dead and many others injured.

Residents reported the violence began Sunday when a Fulani herdsman cut down a mango tree to feed his cattle, according to Daily Post. “When community members approached him to stop, a heated argument ensued, and he allegedly stabbed one person to death,” said a local resident, Zaka.

By 3:00 a.m. local time on Monday, the herdsman allegedly returned with armed kinsmen and launched an attack while villagers slept. “Many have been killed, and houses burnt,” Zaka said, urging authorities to step in.

Some residents reportedly retaliated by setting fire to Fulani huts. Police confirmed the attack but said details were still unclear.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
