- Terrorists Issue Eviction Notice to Yobe Communities, Residents in Panic
Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have ordered residents of several villages in Gujba County, Yobe State, to leave or face deadly consequences.
The militants accused locals of leaking their movements to security forces. Witnesses say the terrorists stormed their communities last weekend, firing gunshots and issuing threats.
“This is what’s happening in my locality,” a resident told SaharaReporters. “Boko Haram came, attacking everybody, beating, and harassing. Now they’ve given us a short notice to migrate within one week, or else they’ll kill everyone.”
Another resident confirmed the threats, adding, “Unfortunately, the media isn’t even discussing this issue.” SaharaReporters reports that many residents, gripped in fear, have begun fleeing.
- “I Call the Bandits” – Elderly Man Confesses to Aiding Abductions
A 70-year-old man, Malam Danlami, has been arrested in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria, for aiding kidnappers in abducting five women from his community.
Local community guards apprehended Danlami after intelligence linked him to a notorious bandit leader, Alhaji Kuda. He reportedly guided the kidnappers to the victims’ homes during the raid.
“When I identified persons to kidnap, I would call Alhaji Kuda. He would now send his boys to carry out the operations,” Danlami confessed in Hausa in a video shared by Zagazola Makama.
The fate of the abducted women remains unclear, as authorities have not disclosed whether they have been freed.
Although Danlami admitted his role in the abductions, he denied involvement in ransom negotiations. Pleading for forgiveness, he said, “I will not do it again, and if I do, the law should take its course.”
- Terrorist Camp Reduced to Rubble in Nigerian Air Force Attack
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out a nighttime airstrike on terrorist hideouts deep within the Mandara Mountains, a rugged, forested range along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon. The mountains, known for their difficult terrain and hidden caves, have long served as a refuge for Boko Haram militants.
The operation targeted key enclaves in Chikide and Degbewa, remote areas within Borno State where insurgents have built fortified camps. According to NAF, intelligence showed that a notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters were planning a high-level meeting there.
“Following this intelligence, the NAF immediately launched a precision night strike under the cover of darkness, achieving complete surprise,” the air force said Tuesday as reported by local media.
The assault destroyed heavily fortified structures and took down multiple insurgents. NAF called the strike a major blow to the terrorists’ operations.
- Ex-NYSC Boss Still in Captivity 40 Days After Kidnapping, Despite Ransom Payment
Retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), remains in captivity 40 days after he was kidnapped alongside nine others in Tsiga town, Bakori County of Katsina State.
The NYSC is a mandatory one-year national service programme for Nigerian graduates designed to promote national unity.
Despite receiving a huge ransom, the kidnappers have refused to release him, a close family source revealed. “For reasons I cannot disclose, I won’t reveal the amount paid or their demands, but I assure you it was a significant sum. Unfortunately, they have failed to honour their part of the agreement,” the source told Daily Trust.
The abductors initially demanded ₦250 million ($162,388) but have repeatedly increased their demands. It is believed that Tsiga has been moved to a new location.
