A series of attacks are being reported approximately 60 miles south of Jos the capital of Plateau State in central Nigeria. The affected area is a group of villages collectively known as Mushere, in Bokkos county.
The attacks are part of a three-month-long raid by terrorists targeting the country’s potato farming hub, TruthNigeria has learned. TruthNigeria has documented over 80 fatalities in Bokkos since April. The latest attack on August 5th in southern Mushere claimed the life of one woman according to Samuel Amalau, the Chairman of Bokkos county. About 15 miles away in Riyom county, two people were killed in a separate raid on the village of Tashek on same day, TruthNigeria learned.
In Mushere, armed terrorists numbering more than 500 launched coordinated attacks on three Mushere villages starting on August 3rd. The assault saw the terrorists destroying homes and ravaging farmlands according to Amalau.
In a press statement issued on August 6th, Amalau condemned the attacks, saying, “This is not just an attack on Mushere—it is an attack on the soul of Bokkos… We cannot continue to watch our people be slaughtered and their livelihoods destroyed in broad daylight. Enough is enough.”
Hours after Amalau’s statement, residents reported a resurgence of raids in the same area. One resident, Pankyes Dawum Alfred wrote in a Facebook post: “Fulani terrorists are attacking another village Ndimar in Ikngwakap Mushere today 6/8/2025. “The attack is ongoing right now. We need security urgently to protect our people,” he wrote, noting the attack has been on since 4:30pm locally.
Another resident, Dorcas Ryemshak also posted “Dimar in Ikgwakap, Mushere central is on fire,” calling for urgent help.
TruthNigeria’s attempts to reach the military commander in Bokkos, Col. Dauda Magems, have been unsuccessful. The area is known to be remote with difficult terrain. Six weeks prior, Col. Magems told TruthNigeria the poor road network was hindering his men from accessing the affected areas.
