‘Conspiracy of Silence’: Media Quiet as Five Youths Die Defending Kaduna Town

Media Ignore Terrorists Killings of Five Brave Christian Youths Defending Community

ABUJA – Nigeria Media is mute on the killing of five Christian youths last Friday night in armed herdsmen terrorists invasion of Bundu-Kahugu community in Lere county of Southern Kaduna, a TruthNigeria survey shows.

They were all volunteer guards otherwise known as ‘vigillante’ in Nigeria.

Four youths were killed during the encounter, while six others sustained critical injuries. One of the injured later died in hospital on Sunday, sources told TruthNigeria on Monday.

Wedding Celebration Turns Into Terror Scene

“There was an open air wedding party going on in the community Friday  night when armed Fulani herdsmen struck,” said Ishaya Ephraim, Secretary of Kahugu Development Association to TruthNigeria from the community.

“They attacked from four sides at the same time, which was around 11:45 pm on Friday (19th, December, 2025) night,” he said.

“Our town has about 2000 homes, a small police post, a bank, two primary School and a High School,” he said.

“It is a Christian town, and we are expanding all the time because of high birthrates,” he said.

Youth Vigilantes Rise After Repeated Attacks

“Unknwown to the attackers, we have hundreds of youths who have volunteered to guard our town because of previous attacks and because of the attacks that our neighbours have been facing from the Fulani bandits,” he said.

“With small handmade pipe guns and machetè our boys took on the attackers as children, women ans the old escaped into adjoining bushes,” he said.

“They fought for over an hour and never retreated even in the face of the advanced firepower of the terrorists who were estimated to be  over 20  in numbers and heavily armed,” he said.

According to him, the terrorists were so engaged that they found it difficult to kidnap anyone or set any structure ablaze.

“All desperate calls to a military post about 4 kilometres away did not get any response during the entire period of the invasion,” he added.

Daniel Yahaya, whose kid brother was among those killed, told TruthNigeria that if it was not for the bravery of the youths, the casualty figures would have been higher and that there would have been mass kidnapping of residents.

“I am also a vigilante and I know what we went through. I know how many of the terrorists that we brought down, but I won’t tell you more,” he said.

“It’s our numbers and the advantage of knowing our town very well that gave us advantage over them,” he said.

Attack Foiled, No Kidnapping or Arson

He said that the invaders retreated when it became obvious that they could not have their way the way the wanted.

“No one was kidnapped. No home or any building was burnt,” he added.

“We didn’t give them space for to carry out that impunity,” he said.

“We know that they will return one day,” he said. “We know that. And we shall also be better prepared for them,” he said.

“I lost my brother and I am so angry and sad. But he died saving his town and I am proud of him,” he said.

The Casualties:

Those killed are: Welas Yahaya, 25, farmer and commercial driver and father of 2;  Apollos Emmanuel, 19 a student; and  Ignition Sunday, 15, said to be a courageous High School pupil and Nehemiah Jonathan, 20, apprentice furniture maker and Samuel Yusuf, 23.

The injured are:  Andrew Soba, 45; Pius Aminu, 22 and Francis Danzaria, 30.

The rest are: Nabal Gagare, 32; Cornelius Emmanuel, 21 and Saidu Yakubu, 26.

All of the injured are in critical condition and are currently undergoing treatment in Saminaka and some in Jos, plateau state.

Military Commend Youths Resilience

It has been confirmed by inside sources that the Nigerian military stormed the village the following day and commended the efforts of the youths.

“They came in two-gun trucks and two open trucks to the town square and called for a meeting,” said a community leader who spoke to TruthNigeria from the town and asked that his name not be mentioned.

“The leader of the troops – a young Major – said that he has learnt about the courage of the youths and was very impressed.

“He said that he was going to organise the vigilante, recruit more and make them a model for other communities to emulate,” he said.

According to the source, the commander regretted their lack of response during the attack, saying it was failure in communication.

Media Accused of Conspiracy

“I am not surprised about the conspiracy of silence of the Nigeria Media on this carnage in Kahugu land,” said Hon. Jonathan Asake, former President of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU).

“There seem to be some kind of understanding that the media have with the government or bandits to always look away or down play all attacks on our people since this government came in place,” he said.

“There is still daily violence on Southern Kaduna Chritain villages which are never in the news in Nigeria,” he said.
