Residents of Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area have raised alarms over potential coordinated attacks on several villages ahead of the upcoming Easter celebrations and the annual Zrrechi festival.
Communities reportedly at risk include Zarwa, Tafigana, Kpachudu, and Kpasho, all located north of Jos in the Irigwe Chiefdom. Locals report sightings of armed men on motorcycles moving toward Mararaban Dare, raising fears of renewed violence during periods historically linked to deadly attacks in the region.
Residents say the situation has been reported to security agencies, though no official confirmation has been released. In response, communities are mobilizing local watch groups, increasing vigilance at night, and restricting nonessential movement to protect families.
Sources indicate that contingency measures, including possible evacuations with security escorts for vulnerable individuals, may be considered if the threat escalates.
