In a daring assault, a band of motorbike-riding bandits targeted a military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari county of Katsina State, Nigeria on Sunday night. Over 100 terrorists were involved in the siege.
The sounds of gunshots that reverberated through the village as soldiers and the rebels battled provoked fear and anxiety in locals. One by one, they began to pack up and leave to seek shelter in neigboring villages while some hid in bushes for as long as the attack lasted.
Although the military was able to hold off the terrorists, the outlaws set ablaze two military vehicles during the attack. “It was a terrible experience for us. The terrorists outnumbered us because they split into three groups,” an anonymous military source told Premium Times.
Exploiting the chaos, the bandits entered the deserted village where they burgled shops, broke into houses, and made away with properties and domestic animals.
