Ten persons including a village head, Magaji Haruna and his son were killed when terrorists attacked Kukar Babangida town in Jibia county of Katsina State on Wednesday night.
The terrorists also abducted several women during the attack that began around 10:00 p.m. local time and lasted several hours, residents of the town said.
A local told Daily Trust that the terrorists started to gather in Taka-Tsaba and Yargeza villages around 5:00 p.m. ahead of the planned attack. Village residents alerted security agents, but nothing was done to stop the attack.
“We were assured by the security agents that there was adequate security reinforcement to come should there be any attack, but unfortunately the bandits operated for several hours without any challenge. Only an operation vehicle came after the attackers had left,” he said.
