Nigerian Troops Rescue 8 Kidnapped Victims in Lethal Attack on Terrorists

The Nigerian Army has said it rescued eight kidnapped victims unhurt from their terrorist captors at Bayan Ruwa in Zamfara State on Wednesday morning.

The operation was carried out by troops of “Operation Hadarin Daji” (OPHD). Several bandits were reportedly gunned down in the encounter while surviving criminals retreated.

The bandits fired at the soldiers first to protect their territory, but the troops put up a strong resistance, according to OPHD spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Suleiman Omale in a press statement Wednesday. “Scores of terrorists” fell to the superior firepower of the soldiers, according to Omale.

“The gallant troops who neutralized scores of terrorists have destroyed the terrorists’ enclaves and dominated the area with aggressive and confidence-building patrol within the general area,” said Omale.
