Police Bust Kidnapping Gang in Abuja, Rescue Hostage

A six-man kidnapping gang operating within the suburbs of Nigeria’s capital city Abuja are now in the police net.

The gang was apprehended following the police rescue mission for one of their captives identified as Joshua Eze who was kidnapped on January 27, FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh told local press on Monday.

The gang was led by Buhari Muhammad, a 20-year-old who has been on the police wanted list for months. His gang members include Muhammad Sabiu, 20 (M); Hamzat Musa, 21 (M); Fatima Abdullahi, 22 (F); 23-year-old Zuliat Yusuf, 23 (F), and Isah Abdullahi, 20 (M).

The police statement said the gang’s prisoner, Eze was rescued unhurt on January 28 while keeping a 24-hour surveillance on the criminals. On February 2, the police struck at the gang’s hotel residence and arrested them all.

“The suspects have since confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the Territory,” Adeh noted.
