12 Feared Abducted As Bandits Ambush Travellers in Kogi

Two commercial vehicles heading for Abuja from Southeast Abia State of Nigeria were intercepted by bandits in Kogi State last Friday with at least 12 travellers kidnapped.

The bandits flagged down the vehicles at Inele Eteke village in Olamaboro county of Kogi State at gunpoint and marched the travellers to the bush. Olamaboro in southeast Kogi is 239 miles from Nigeria’s capital city.

The attack happened just after the vehicles had passed a police roadblock on the highway. Local media could not confirm the number of people abducted.

The vehicles attacked were a 12-seater bus belonging to God is Good transport company and a Sienna car owned by ABC Transport Company with two persons onboard along with the driver. Police authorities in Kogi confirmed the abduction on Monday, saying officers and civilian guards are combing nearby bushes in search of the kidnappers and the victims.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
