After a grueling 68-day journey spanning over 17 countries, Nigerian–British travel content creator Pelumi Nubi triumphantly arrived in Lagos on Sunday, April 7.
Nubi’s historic solo road trip, undertaken in a Peugeot 107 affectionately nicknamed “Lumi,” has captured the imagination of Nigerians and travel enthusiasts worldwide.
Nubi, 29 and based in the U.K., embarked on this ambitious adventure on January 30. Her route took her through France, Spain, Morocco, and several West African nations before reaching her final destination.
Nubi documented her experiences on social media, sharing breathtaking landscapes, cultural encounters, and the occasional car trouble, amassing a dedicated following.
Reaching Lagos on Sunday, she received a heroine’s welcome. Fans and Lagos State government officials, including the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, greeted her.
Nubi later addressed a crowd of admirers at the University of Lagos, expressing her excitement about completing the journey and inspiring young women, particularly, to dream big and conquer their fears. “I feel so good to be home. Honestly, the homecoming has been so amazing, and really welcoming,” she told Channels Television.
