Nigerian Air Force Claims Weekend Successes Against Terrorists in Katsina and Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a series of successful airstrikes conducted over the weekend that targeted terrorist groups in Katsina and Borno states.

In a statement released on Sunday, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, revealed details of the operations. The first airstrike took place on Friday, April 5, targeting a terrorist enclave located northwest of Yartsamiya village in Dan Musa County (Local Government Area) of Katsina State.

“At the location, a set of 11 armed terrorists were sighted moving towards a mountainous area. Soon after, two separate sets of terrorists joined the first set of terrorists, and all were observed heading towards the same direction towards the mountainous high ground,” the statement explained. According to the NAF, the airstrike successfully disrupted a potential attack by the terrorist group and denied them freedom of movement.

Early Saturday morning, the air component of “Operation Hadin Kai” launched another airstrike in Borno State.  The target was a location identified as Grazah in the Gwoza county, known to be a Boko Haram logistics base. The location served as a storage facility for the terrorists’ weapons and ammunition, as well as an area where they manufactured Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), according to the army statement.

“Consequently, air interdiction was conducted at the location with Battle Damage Assessment footage and feedback received revealing several terrorists neutralized,” Gabkwet added.
