Nigeria’s Defence Chief Strikes Optimistic Tone, Pledges Quicker End to Terrorism

Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, offered a message of hope on Thursday, vowing a swift end to the terrorism and banditry plaguing the nation.

Speaking in Abuja, the federal capital, on Thursday at a ministerial briefing, Minister Abubakar emphasized the military’s eagerness to see these security threats neutralized.

“We will end terrorism and banditry in Nigeria soon. Those who willingly surrender, will be saved but those who refuse to surrender will be crushed,” the Minister declared.

Banditry and terrorism have become major security threats in Nigeria, particularly in the north and central regions. These attacks have resulted in tragic losses of life, kidnappings, and a deep sense of unease among citizens.

Minister Abubakar acknowledged the ongoing challenges but emphasized the unwavering commitment of the armed forces. He outlined plans for continued operations with world-class technology that can “identify terrorists and bandits and destroy them before they can attack anyone.”

He bolstered his message by highlighting recent military achievements, including the capture or elimination of dreaded terrorists and terrorist-bandit leaders, alongside the rescue of kidnapped victims.
