Brazen Attacks by Fulani Terrorists Kill 20 Christians in Taraba State

Fulani Terrorist Warlord Alhaji Tukur Named as Kingpin Behind Murders

(Wukari, Taraba State) Fulani terrorists operating on foot and motorcycles have launched deadly attacks on Christian communities in Taraba State, killing more than 20 people during the last 48 hours.

The coordinated assaults targeted multiple settlements in Wukari Local Government Area, with gunmen storming homes and places of worship in broad daylight. Survivors described scenes of chaos and terror as the attackers, shouting Islamic war cries, fired indiscriminately into houses.

Christiana Joseph, a 33-year-old farmer from Amadu village, told TruthNigeria how the attack began.

“I was preparing to go for Mass early in the morning around 6 a.m. when I heard the sound of motorcycles,” she recalled. “I was in the kitchen when they stormed into our compound, surrounding it and shooting into the main house.”

“They fired for about five minutes, shouting Allahu Akbar. When the gunfire stopped, I went inside and found my husband of 14 years, John Joseph, already dead.”

A similar attack occurred in Chanchengi, a predominantly Christian settlement that also shelters displaced families from Benue State. Residents told TruthNigeria that the latest assault was unusually brazen, taking place in the afternoon rather than at night.

“In fact, they used to attack mainly at night and without motorbikes,” one resident said. “This time, they came in the afternoon on motorbikes with AK-47 rifles, shooting into every house as they passed.”

“I don’t know how many were killed, but my neighbors, David Bawa and Titus Gregory, lost five family members between them. My house was riddled with bullets; all my windows and doors were destroyed,” said Samson Haruna, speaking exclusively to TruthNigeria.

Catholic Clergy Speak

Fr. George Dogo, Priest in charge of Holy Family Cathedral, Takum, exclusively told TruthNigeria that between November 9 and 11, 2025, several communities — including Wukari, Takum, and Chanchengi — lost more than 20 men and women.

“We are still compiling the list to send to you,” he said. “But as I speak, the figures could rise further.”

Fr. Dogo criticized the military’s inaction, saying: “The Nigerian military is not helpful at all. They have refused to engage the Fulani terrorists, and that is why these attacks keep increasing.”

Fr. Timothy Shamaniyan of Holy Family Cathedral, Aye Twar, Katsina-Ala Diocese, whose parishioners fled to Taraba, described the desperate situation facing displaced Christians.

“Most of my parishioners — over 4,000 — were taking refuge in Amadu and Chanchengi. Now they have been forced to flee again,” he said. “In Chanchengi, I have only about 500 left. In Amadu, maybe 150. The Fulani terrorists have driven them out again. Where do you expect them to go now?”

He revealed that the attackers operate from the bushes and mountains surrounding Danjuma Farms. “They are familiar faces. They are Fulani and they hide around Danjuma Farms,” a complex of properties owned by retired Lt. General and politician Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, he said.

Adakole Adah, head of Adakson Security Consultancy in Takum, confirmed this. “That area called Danjuma Farm is surrounded by mountains and thick vegetation. It used to be a resort but is now overgrown. The Fulani use it as a cover for cattle grazing, but that’s just a smokescreen,” he explained.

“Fulani terrorists hide there, plan their attacks, and store motorbikes and weapons. If the government wants to stop the attacks on Wukari, Takum, and Bali, they must clear out the terrorists from Danjuma Farms,” Adah told TruthNigeria.

Identity of the Terrorists Revealed

According to Mallam Zubair Ussa, a community leader in Takum, the main terror commander is a Fulani warlord named Alhaji Tukur.

“Tukur controls a network of Fulani fighters and has vowed to give residents of Amadu and Chanchengi no peace until he avenges the death of his son, Mohammed Tukur, whom he claims the Tiv people killed,” Ussa said.

He added that Tukur had mobilized his men from the Danjuma Farms area, a location known to local security officials.

The attacks have forced hundreds of families to flee, abandoning farms, livestock, and homes. Witnesses reported long convoys of displaced persons along Wukari’s roads, seeking refuge in nearby towns and church compounds.

Local sources told TruthNigeria that security forces have yet to respond effectively, even as gunmen continue to operate freely across parts of Southern Taraba.

A Worsening Pattern

The latest killings add to a string of violent assaults attributed to Fulani terrorists in Taraba’s Christian-dominated areas. Church leaders in Wukari have repeatedly warned of what they describe as a coordinated campaign to displace Christians from their ancestral lands — a form of religious cleansing.

As of press time, community leaders confirmed that at least 20 people were dead, with several others missing or critically injured.
