The Nigerian military has cracked down on terrorists camped at Tsora Hills in the Safana county of Katsina State.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) director of public relations and information, at a press briefing on Sunday said the hill hideout was bombed on January 30.
“The location was first struck by NAF aircraft, after which the ground troops successfully mopped up fleeing terrorists,” Gabkwet said. The troops cleared the hill, destroying the shelters of the defeated terrorists.
The NAF spokesman, though claiming the terrorists were “mopped up,” did not give the specific figures of terrorists gunned down and those captured. The Tsora Hill, Gabkwet said, had hitherto served as a hiding place for terrorists in Safana county.
Similarly, troops rescued four kidnapped victims on February 2 in Yorro county of Taraba State after, a gun duel with their captors which forced the terrorists to retreat.
Lieutenant Olabodunde Oni, acting assistant director of the 6th Brigade Army public relations, in a statement on Saturday also said that the army officers “successfully destroyed multiple bandits hideouts” in the region.
