Police Begin Hunt for Bandits After Abduction of 35 Women in Katsina

Terrorists last Thursday night  [Feb. 1] ambushed a flatbed truck carrying no fewer than 70 women returning from a wedding ceremony, kidnapping at least 35 people, local media reports.

The terrorists reportedly shot the conductor of the truck, pushed the driver out and took over the steering. Faced with the unexpected terror, some of the women leaped over the sidewalls of the truck and escaped on foot.

The truck ran into the ambush along Gamji road in Dandume county of Katsina State. The wedding took place in Sabuwa county which is a distance of 39 miles from Dandume.

Three local civilian guards who opened fire with their fabricated pipe guns on the terrorists were shot, and none survived.

Police authorities have said they are aware of the attack, promising to hunt down the assailants and to rescue the kidnapped women.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
