Nigerian Superstars Lose Out On Grammy Awards

The five Nigerian nominees for the 66th Grammy Awards were left empty-handed on Sunday, January 4, 2024, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.

Burna Boy led the pack of Nigerian artists with four nominations: Best Global Music Album for his latest album, “I Told Them…”, Best African Music Performance for “City Boys”, Best Global Music Performance for “Alone”, and Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Sittin ‘On Top Of The World”. All four nominations slipped through his fingers.

Davido, a first-time nominee, got three nominations: Best Global Music Performance for “Feel”, Best Global Music Album for “Timeless”, and Best African Music Performance for “Unavailable”. He lost out on all categories.

Asake and Olamide’s “Amapiano” along with Ayra Starr’s “Rush” were not able to make a winning impression in the Best African Music Performance and Best Music Performance categories, respectively.
