Musa Ille, the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Tsafe County (Local Government Area) of Zamfara State, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Monday night.
The attack occurred at his residence, according to Garba Garewa, the PDP Chairman in the local government. “We are suspecting his killers to be bandits,” Garewa told Channels Television on Tuesday. “They entered his house yesterday (Monday) and shot him.”
This is the latest incident of violence in Zamfara, a state grappling with ongoing banditry and insecurity. While the motive for the killing remains unclear, the PDP leader’s death adds to the tension in the region.
Zamfara has been a hotspot for armed bandit activity for several years. Gangs of criminals frequently target civilians, carrying out kidnappings, cattle rustling, and attacks on villages. Despite efforts by the federal government, the insecurity persists. Ille’s death is a grim reminder of the dangers faced by residents in Zamfara.
