Governor places N50 million bounty on killers of official

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Nigeria’s Southwest Ogun State has announced a N50 million reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of Taiwo Oyekanmi, his director of finance.

Oyekanmi was brutally murdered on November 29 by a gang of armed robbers after cashing out an unspecified amount of government funds from a bank, TruthNigeria reports.

Governor Abiodun described the late Oyekanmi as a “dedicated, honest, and diligent official.” He said his loss is a “tremendous blow to our administration.”

A week after the robbery, no arrest has been made. The State Government is now calling on citizens to assist the authorities in apprehending the criminals.

“Information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality,” Tokunbo Talabi, the Governor’s secretary, said in a statement made available to local media.
