At least seven persons, including a volunteer citizen guard, were killed Sunday night at popular Porsche Nightclub in Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria. The dare-devil gunmen who unleashed chaos at the club reportedly stormed the place to kidnap the club owner but met with stiff resistance from the security guards.
The gunmen opened heavy fire, resulting in multiple casualties. A source told Premium Times that seven persons were gunned down. From the gory videos of the incident that have gone viral on social media seen by TruthNigeria, one had his head and one leg cut off. An unspecified number of people sustained critical gunshot wounds.
Police spokesperson in the State, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the attack to Nigerian press on Monday. He said the police got a distress call and dispatched men to the area, but the officers arrived too late. “When the security operatives arrived at the scene, the hoodlums had already fled,” said Ikenga.
The police said two yet-to-be-identified corpses were recovered from the scene and that they are still on the lookout for the murderers as no arrests have been made. “Some of the eyewitnesses have given us information that is helpful,” Ikenga added.
