I’ll deal with bandits terrorizing Katsina: Governor

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State says he is going all out to deal a “resounding blow” on bandits and other criminals in the State.

Katsina is among several states in Northwest Nigeria ravaged by bandit militias who raid mostly farming villages to loot and kidnap scores of residents to hold them for ransom in forest hideouts.

In his New Year’s Day message on Monday, the Governor assured his people that he is committed to overcoming the security challenges in Katsina and asked for support.

“The government, together with the people, will deal a resounding blow to the menace of insecurity,” Radda said in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed.

In August 2023, Governor Radda said that security forces in the State would start attacking bandits in their hideouts, warning the hoodlums to repent or face dire consequences.

“What we intend to start doing henceforth is to attack these hoodlums in their hideouts the same way they attack us in our homes. God willing very soon we will begin to go to the forest and look for them,” he said.
