Benue Communities Deserted Over Continuous Attacks, 9 dead over weekend

Armed terrorists speaking the Fulfulde language continued a longstanding campaign of village takeovers by raiding four communities in Apa county of Benue State over the weekend, killing nine persons.

The attacks left dozens of people injured while the attacked villages have been deserted by the locals who fled. The villagers are taking refuge at the municipal headquarters.

The raided villages are Ibele, Ikobi, Ochumekwu and Ijaha. A source who spoke on anonymity told Daily Trust that the attacks have been going on for the past two weeks.

“They have been terrorizing us in Ikobi, and as I speak to you, there is nobody in Ikobi, which has a population of over one million people. All the people have run away,” said the source.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
