Nigerian Crossdresser, Bobrisky, Arrested for Naira Abuse

Popular Nigerian performance artist Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly misusing the Nigerian currency, the naira. EFCC is the parallel of the FBI in the U.S.

Bobrisky is a well-known crossdresser who has gained fame for his flamboyant lifestyle and social media presence. The EFCC accuses Bobrisky of “naira mutilation and abuse” after a video circulated online showing him spraying large amounts of money at a recent movie premiere.

According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, their investigation suggests this was not an isolated incident. Bobrisky is suspected of similar actions at other events.

“Bobrisky is currently detained at our Lagos facility,” said Oyewale. “He will be facing charges in court for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation.” Nigerian law considers defacing or spraying the Naira a crime.
