Bandits Wreak Havoc in Katsina State, Killing 3 and Abducting Dozens

According to a report by Daily Trust, a local media outlet, bandits have gone on a rampage in Katsina State, killing three individuals, including a government official, and abducting dozens of others.

One of the attacks took place on Friday night and claimed the life of Salisu Ango, who was serving as the liaison officer to Governor Umar Dikko Radda in Kankia county. Ango was killed alongside his first wife, while his second wife was kidnapped. Locals shared that the bandits had previously warned Ango against marrying the ex-wife of one of their members. They reported hearing the bandits say he had “paid the price” for ignoring their warnings.

In another devastating incident in Shirgi Community, Batsari county, the bandits killed one person, injured another, and kidnapped 28 others. A resident described the scene, saying, “Many people were initially taken by the bandits, but eventually, some of them escaped along the way as they were walking through thick farms. But by our count, 28 are still with them.”

In addition to the kidnappings, the bandits also stole an unknown number of domestic animals from the village. While the police in Katsina have confirmed the attacks, they have not yet released detailed information.
