Credible intelligence indicates that armed elements of the Fulani Ethnic Militia (FEM), reinforced by fighters mobilized from Nasarawa and Bauchi States, are preparing coordinated attacks against communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, particularly within Fan District and Barkin Ladi town. Intelligence sources confirm that the fighters assembled in Mahanga (geocoordinates: 9°30’46.76″N, 8°48’13.48″E), where operational meetings were reportedly held before deployment. The area is alleged to be under the influence of a known FEM commander identified as Mahmud Adam. Following the meeting, armed fighters reportedly departed in motorcycle formations carrying up to three armed men each in commando-style movement toward target communities.
As of the evening of 6 May 2026, armed FEM elements were reportedly concealed within mountainous areas near Dorowa Babuje and Jong villages, before emerging to launch attacks toward Nding Sesut, Nding Rapyam, Nafan, Nyarwei, and surrounding settlements in Fan District. Intelligence further warns that communities including Gassa, Lohalla, Lobiring, Jong, and RaKung face imminent danger and should remain on RED ALERT. Sources report that attackers have already procured petroleum products allegedly intended for the burning of homes and places of worship. The operational pattern, combined with the scale of mobilization and cross-state reinforcement, strongly indicates a planned large-scale assault targeting civilian populations and community infrastructure.
