JOS, Nigeria — Armed men speaking Fulani launched coordinated daylight attacks on two Christian villages south of Jos on Sunday, killing a security operative and leaving at least one civilian missing as gunfire continued into the late afternoon. The assaults began around 1:00 p.m. in Tanjol and Tarai, both located in the Jol district of Riyom County, where residents reported dozens of gunmen firing sporadically as they advanced on the communities.
Local security personnel responded quickly but encountered heavy resistance from the attackers. As of 4:30 p.m. local time, shooting was still ongoing, and residents remained in hiding as reinforcements attempted to secure the area.
