SECURITY ALERT: EGBE, YAGBA WEST LGA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA | OCTOBER 27, 2026
Local intelligence reports approximately 30-armed men on motorcycles near border forests after an attempted kidnapping and shooting along the Comprehensive College–Ijalu road.
Armed men reportedly moving on motorcycles with AK-47 rifles were sighted heading toward forest areas along the Kwara–Ekiti border at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, raising concern for Egbe and nearby communities following a reported kidnapping attempt and the shooting of a resident.
According to local intelligence, hunters returning from a night hunt spotted about 30 armed men travelling toward the border forests on motorcycles carry AK-47 rifles. Their identities, exact destination and intentions have not been independently verified by TruthNigeria.
SHOOTING REPORTED ALONG COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE–IJALU ROAD
The reported movement followed an incident around Comprehensive College, along the road linking Ijalu in Egbe, where armed men allegedly attempted to abduct residents from their farm on Tuesday morning.
Local sources identified the intended victims as a man popularly known as Olly D and his associate. The two reportedly escaped, but a resident identified as Mr. Reuben was shot when he arrived at the scene.
Reuben is reportedly receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. His current condition has not been independently confirmed.
REPORTED CLASH WITH LOCAL SECURITY OPERATIVES
Sources said the same group of armed men had reportedly encountered security operatives, including Koro Forest Guards, Iyemero vigilantes and Ekiti vigilantes, around the Kwara–Ekiti border areas on Monday, October 26.
According to the accounts received, the armed men moved into Egbe in the early hours of Tuesday, before the reported sighting of gunmen travelling toward the border forests at approximately 6:30 a.m.
TruthNigeria has not independently established whether the group involved in Monday’s reported encounter was the same group responsible for the incident in Egbe.
COMMUNITIES URGED TO EXERCISE CAUTION
Residents of Egbe and surrounding communities, particularly people living or working along isolated roads and near forest routes toward the Kwara–Ekiti border, are advised to remain vigilant while awaiting verified security updates.
Farmers, hunters, traders and commercial drivers should avoid unnecessary movement through isolated areas where credible reports indicate a possible security threat. Residents should not approach suspected armed groups or attempt to track their movements.
Anyone who sights suspicious armed persons should report the information through safe, established channels to the police, military or other recognised security authorities.
Community leaders should promptly relay credible warnings to residents and coordinate with security agencies.
