SECURITY ALERT: OVER 50 SUSPECTED TERRORISTS REPORTEDLY MOVE TOWARD KOGI FORESTS

SECURITY ALERT: EDIMOGBO AND OBELE FORESTS, IGALAMELA/ODOLU LGA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA | NOVEMBER 4, 2026

More than 50 suspected terrorists travelling on motorcycles and carrying AK-47 rifles were reportedly sighted moving toward Edimogbo and Obele forests in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State at approximately 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4.

An intelligence report received by TruthNigeria from local vigilantes said patrol members noticed the mass movement of the armed men while conducting surveillance in the area.

The reported movement has raised security concerns for communities around the two forest locations, particularly as the number of armed men and the weapons reportedly observed suggest a significant security threat.

VIGILANTES REPORT MASS MOVEMENT TOWARD FOREST AREAS

According to the intelligence report, the suspected terrorists were travelling in large numbers on motorcycles, with AK-47 rifles visible among their weapons.

The vigilantes reportedly observed the movement during their patrol but did not establish the armed group’s precise origin, intended destination beyond the reported forest direction, or whether the men were preparing to attack any particular community.

BORDER COMMUNITIES FACE HEIGHTENED SECURITY CONCERNS

Igalamela/Odolu is located in the eastern part of Kogi State, within the wider Igala-speaking area. The local government shares internal boundaries with neighbouring Kogi communities, including Ibaji and Ofu, while its geographical setting connects the wider area toward the Enugu State boundary and communities associated with the Nsukka people.

The River Niger forms an important geographical boundary in the wider region. The reported movement toward Edimogbo and Obele forests therefore warrants attention from surrounding communities and security formations.

Although no specific community has been identified as a target, residents, farmers, hunters and travellers around the affected forest areas should exercise caution.

SECURITY ADVISORY AND SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

Remain vigilant: Communities around Edimogbo and Obele forests should take the reported armed movement seriously and monitor credible security warnings.

Avoid forest routes: Farmers, hunters, loggers and other residents should avoid unnecessary movement into isolated forest areas, particularly at night.

Alert security agencies: Vigilantes and community leaders should promptly share verified information about suspicious movements with the police and other recognised security authorities.

Protect vulnerable communities: Residents should establish safe communication channels for sharing credible warnings and assisting people who may be exposed to danger.

Avoid confrontation: Residents should not attempt to intercept, follow or photograph suspected armed groups.

Verify information: Community members should avoid circulating unconfirmed reports about intended targets, casualties or the identity of the armed men.

SECURITY ADVISORY AND SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

Security agencies are urged to verify the reported movement and assess the potential threat to communities around Edimogbo and Obele forests.

VERIFICATION STATUS: This alert is based on an intelligence report received by TruthNigeria from vigilantes who reportedly observed the movement during patrol at approximately 8:00 p.m. The number of armed men, their weapons and intended destination have not been independently verified. No specific planned attack or targeted community has been established.

Residents are advised to remain alert and report credible security information through safe and established channels.
