Credible reporting received on 28 August 2026 indicates that hundreds of armed Fulani Ethnic Militia (FEM) elements were sighted moving from the vicinity of Sabon Gaya (10°35’59″N, 7°17’59″E) toward the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway. The reported size and direction of this armed movement, combined with separate intelligence concerning planned attacks against numerous Christian worship centers in Kaduna State between 29 August and 5 September, constitute an immediate and potentially severe threat to civilian populations.
Communities throughout Chikun Local Government Area, particularly Gonin Gora and the corridor extending toward Millennium City, should be placed on RED ALERT.
Separately, previous intelligence reports that more than 50 heavily armed fighters traveling on more than 50 motorcycles moved from the Dandume area of Katsina State through Kaduna toward Plateau State. Their reported route passed through Giwa, the Kaduna Eastern Bypass, Kachia, Fadan Kamantan, Zonkwa, Samaru, Manchok, and toward the Jos area. They were reportedly sent to reinforce armed elements in Plateau State following losses from ongoing security operations.
Taken together, these reports indicate a period of exceptionally elevated armed activity across Kaduna and the Kaduna–Plateau corridor immediately preceding the 29 August–5 September threat window.
NEW ARMED MOVEMENT — SABON GAYA / CHIKUN LGA / KADUNA STATE
On 28 August, hundreds of armed FEM elements were reportedly sighted moving from Sabon Gaya (10°35’59″N, 7°17’59″E) toward the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway.
Their precise destination and intended targets remain unknown. However, the reported strength of the formation and direction of movement warrant immediate attention to communities surrounding the expressway and the southern approaches to Kaduna metropolis.
Particular concern exists for the Gonin Gora–Chikun–Millennium City axis.
The location, direction of movement, intentions, and current disposition of this reported armed formation should be established as an urgent security priority.
SOUTHERN KADUNA — REPORTED THREATS TO CHRISTIAN WORSHIP CENTERS
Separately, according to sensitive source information, Fulani Ethnic Militia (FEM) fighters collaborating with ISWAP and Darussalam terrorist organizations are planning attacks against Catholic and Protestant churches in Kaduna and potentially Plateau States. Attack targets include churches in the following counties of Southern Kaduna state: Chikun (two Catholic churches, one Protestant target), Kachia (six Catholic churches, four Protestant churches), Jema’a (Kafanchan area, four Protestant churches), and targets along the Saminaka axis (two Catholic churches, three Protestant churches).
COMMUNITY WARNING AND REPORTING GUIDELINES
CRITICAL threat environment and the approaching worship period, communities in affected areas of Kaduna and Plateau States should immediately strengthen civilian early warning and communication with both church leadership and Nigerian security authorities.
- Report suspicious armed movements immediately. Residents who observe suspected armed groups, unusually large movements of armed persons, suspicious motorcycle concentrations, or other activity reasonably associated with a potential attack should promptly report what they have observed to designated local church leaders and appropriate police, military, or other security officials. Reports should include the location, approximate time, direction of movement, approximate number of persons observed, vehicles or motorcycles involved, and other identifying observations. Civilians should not approach, confront, follow, or attempt to detain suspected armed persons.
- Establish redundant communications. Churches and threatened communities should designate trusted points of contact responsible for receiving warnings and rapidly relaying them to church leadership and security authorities. Communities should maintain charged mobile phones and radios where available and establish backup communications in case normal cellular service is unavailable. Unverified reports should be clearly identified as such rather than circulated as established fact.
- Give particular attention to upcoming worship services and Masses. Church leaders should coordinate in advance with local security authorities regarding protection of church buildings, church compounds, congregation gathering areas, parking areas, and principal access roads during the upcoming high-risk worship period. Any unusual activity around a church or its approaches should be reported promptly. Churches should avoid civilian armed confrontation and rely on lawful security services for interdiction and response.
- Maintain controlled access and emergency preparedness. Congregations should identify responsible personnel to observe entrances and immediately report suspicious activity. Access routes should remain clear for emergency vehicles and evacuation. Church leadership should identify emergency exits, safe assembly locations, first-aid capability, and procedures for rapidly suspending services or moving congregants to safety if a credible warning is received.
