Hours after TruthNigeria Alert Posted, the Shooting Started
By Suleman Ayuba
HONG, Nigeria — Hours after TruthNigeria issued a terror alert Monday regarding impending attacks in northeastern Nigeria, the Nigerian Military successfully repelled a fierce assault by Boko Haram terrorists in Adamawa State, killing six insurgents.
Reverend Manasseh Mbafe, Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Hong Local Government Area, confirmed the military’s success in an exclusive interview with TruthNigeria.
“The situation is calm now, though we are currently evacuating our Christian brethren to the hospital who sustained injuries,” Rev. Mbafe said. The Nigerian Army also released an official statement, acknowledging that several soldiers were wounded while defending the targeted Christian community.
Why Boko Haram terrorists are Attacking

In the interview, Reverend Manasseh Mbafe told TruthNigeria that Boko Haram terrorists are expanding and taking more territories to force Christians to submit to an Islamic Caliphate. “They are not simply attacking for loot or random violence,” he said. “This is a calculated, sinister expansion to seize land, erase Christian farming communities, and compel submission through terror until the caliphate is imposed by force.”
“ It’s a setback for Boko Haram,” a military source told TruthNigeria on the condition of anonymity. “This tactical defeat will likely cause Boko Haram to shift its war doctrine toward asymmetric warfare, cautioning that suicide bombers may soon begin targeting places of worship across the region,” he added.
Boko Haram Terrorists Destroy Church Clinic

Boko Haram terrorists destroyed a church clinic and killed the sick during recent assaults across Adamawa State, according to Adamawa farmer Ishaya Joseph, who visited the aftermath of the tragedy on 10th October 2026 and was interviewed by TruthNigeria. Both Gombi Local Government Area and Hong Local Government Area have been turned into a war zone specifically targeting Christians, Joseph said.
“As I am talking to you right now, women and children have been taken into captivity,” Joseph told TruthNigeria. “Sambisa Forest is not far from us; the corridor is open without security and the terrorists have overwhelmed the community vigilantes.”
This followed an earlier massacre in the same village on April 26, 2026, when gunmen killed at least 29 people who had gathered for a local football match. ISWAP claimed responsibility for those massacres and abductions, as well as a September 7 assault on nearby Dzangula/Nzangula that killed around 12 people, burned an EYN church, and involved abductions.
Systematic Targeted Attacks on Christian Settlements
Local clergy and church leaders told TruthNigeria that Boko Haram fighters completely destroyed an EYN church—Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, one of the country’s largest indigenous Christian denominations — on 8 October 2026 in Hong Local Government Area. Reverend Manasseh Mbafe, Secretary of CAN Hong Local Government Chapter, confirmed the attack to TruthNigeria and warned that the destruction forms part of a deliberate effort to erase Christian farming settlements.
In a related strike near Tashan Alade, militants hit Zdur, abducting students returning from final examinations at the College of Education Waka-Biu, seizing two cars and a tricycle, and taking an unspecified number of farmers from Galanduwa. The exact number of those abducted remains unknown, with officials urging parents to contact their children immediately.
Christian farmer David Isaac separately confirmed that the violence extended well beyond the church building. Shops, chemists, and pharmacy stores were looted, and several residents are still missing—presumed either killed or taken into captivity. Reverend Manasseh told TruthNigeria that eight entire Christian communities have already been completely displaced.
“What we are passing through is a systematic and calculated genocide against indigenous Christians,” he said. “Thousands have been displaced. We have been conducting mass burials of Christians. Our communities that are being erased are 100 percent Christian. We have lost count of loved ones lost to Boko Haram terrorists.”
Abandoned compounds and unmarked graves now stand where families once lived and farmed. Nightfall brings constant fear that the next burst of gunfire will finish another village.
Rising Wave of Attacks Across Adamawa
TruthNigeria has documented a rising wave of such attacks across Adamawa since January:
- In January Boko Haram struck Mubang and Zar in Hong LGA while suspected fighters hit Kirchinga in Madagali LGA.
- February: Twin attacks killed 25 people in Shuwari and Kirchinga, followed by strikes on Guyaku and Telabala in Gombi LGA that killed 29 people, with ISWAP claiming responsibility even as the military reported killing 30 terrorists in operations against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS elements.
- October (8–9): Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Bala-Tela village in Guyaku District of Gombi Local Government Area, killing one person, burning a church and a vehicle, and damaging other properties including reports of a clinic.
- That assault formed part of the same pattern of repeated strikes against rural Christian settlements in both Gombi and Hong.
Urgent Calls for Protection Against Existential Crisis
Church officials and CAN leaders describe the cumulative effect as an existential crisis. Without action to secure the villages, dismantle terrorist footholds near the open Sambisa corridor, and return the displaced to their ancestral land, these ancient Christian farming communities will be extinguished.
Residents report that community vigilantes have been overwhelmed, security presence remains thin, and the corridor from Sambisa Forest continues to allow fighters free movement into both Gombi and Hong. Mass burials continue, women and children remain in captivity, and entire settlements that were once 100 percent Christian now stand empty. Local clergy insist the campaign is systematic, calculated, and aimed at stripping indigenous Christians of land, life, and continuity. https://truthnigeria.com/2026/10/nigerias-independence-day-marred-by-coordinated-boko-haram-attacks-in-adamawa/
The scale of abductions and killings has gone largely under-reported, Mbafe told TruthNigeria, even as Boko Haram continues taking people from farms and homes into captivity. Christian leaders warn that the silence surrounding these attacks only emboldens further destruction of churches, clinics, and entire villages.
