Christian Clerics tackle Tinibu’s aide over denial of genocide

By Ebere Inyama

In a viral video shared online by TruthNigeria’s Masara Kim recently, a Plateau state – based clergyman, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, laid curses on Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for denying that there is Christian genocide in Nigeria.

“Then there is that man called Reno Omokri, who came out and said there is no genocide in Nigeria”, Dachomo said in the viral video.

“That man, I have cursed him already. He will never know peace down to his grave”, he continued.

“The blood of the people that has entered my brain, I have transferred them into his life. He will not escape.

“I want all Nigerians to know the man will never escape. He has been living a dubious life with different governments, but this time around, he has crossed the line.

“If I exist without seeing God crush that man, then I’m a bastard because the blood of the people that have been killed in the north, for him coming out to deny it, he has crossed the line. He is finished.

“The only hope for him that will buy my heart is for him to repent. Let him repent. If Reno Omokri will repent, and those kinds of Christians that came out and say there’s no genocide, if they don’t repent, they will all face the wrath of God,” he said.

Reno Omokri had on 14 October, 2025, invited international fact-finding teams into Nigeria all in a bid to tell the world that Christians are not being killed.

In a sermon on Sunday 26 October, 2025, Lead Pastor of the Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye, spoke about the “ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria” and urged the church to rise in fervent prayer and intercession for peace, unity, and divine intervention in the land.

“There’s a lot of distortion going on, people claiming that there is no genocide of Christians in the nation”, Abioye began during the sermon.

“Information with facts can never be thwarted”, he continued.

“You see people buried in hundreds and you say there is no genocide. What a wicked set of people.

“Agreed that there are other people killed in other places for other reasons but this one is very clear. And gradually, it is eating down to the south.

“And many so-called leaders for their personal interest are claiming it is not true. Selling out their faith, if they have it at all”, he added.

Earlier on 13 October, 2023, a Catholic priest serving at the Catholic Secretariat, Nnewi, Anambra state, Reverend Father Emefiena Ezeani, wrote a message to TruthNigeria, supporting the stand taken by Senator Ted Cruz of the United State on the reports of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

“Yes, Senator Ted Cruz is right to say that Government officials in Nigeria are ignoring the killing of Christians by Islamic Jihadists, and they are also complicit in the act of Terrorism”, Ezeani wrote in the message to TruthNigeria.

Cruz had on October 3, 2025, accused Nigerian officials of “ignoring and even facilitating the mass murder of Christians by Islamist jihadists,” adding that his “Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act would target these officials with powerful sanctions and other tools”.

U.S lawmaker raises concern

The U.S. representative for South Carolina’s 1st congressional district, Nancy Mace, has described Nigeria as a ‘danger zone’ for Christians.

Mace made the claim via a post on her official X account on Monday 27 October, 2025.

“Nigeria is the most dangerous place in the world for Christians. 5 Million Displaced, 9,100 Churches Destroyed, 850+ Christian Hostages, 600 Clergy Attacked”, she wrote.

Her post adds to a growing wave of comments from American public figures alleging widespread persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Earlier on 25 October, 2025, Riley Moore, who represents West Virginia’s 2nd District in the US Congress, disclosed during an interview with Fox news that he has sent a letter to the U.S Secretary of State for Nigeria to be re – designated as a Country of Particular Concern.

“In Nigeria, we have Christians killed daily, literally, 35 a day and over 7,000 just this year”, More said during the interview with Fox news.

“It’s a tragedy. I have sent a letter to the secretary of State for Nigeria to be re – designated as a Country of   Particular Concern”, added.

Kidnappings, mass murder: U.S bishops blame Islamic extremists

“In recent years, for example, thousands of Christians and Muslims in Nigeria have been kidnapped and killed by Islamist extremists, while the government has imprisoned members of both religious groups for blasphemy,”  said Bishop Elias Zaidan and Bishop Kevin Rhoades.

“In many other countries as well, people of faith are under consistent assault, while their governments engage in or tolerate severe violations of religious freedom”, they added.

The bishops made the comments in a statement released 22 October, 2025 in advance of the U.S observance of the International Religious Freedom Day held on 27 October, 2025 to commemorate the signing of the International Religious Freedom Act by President Bill Clinton in 1998.

Bishop Zaidan is the chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on International Justice and Peace while Bishop Kevin Rhoades is chairman of the USCCB’s Committee for Religious Liberty.

Muslim group reacts

“We hereby register our strong disapproval of the recent remarks credited, in particular, to the United States Senator Ted Cruz alleging genocidal campaigns against Christians in Nigeria”, wrote the National President of The Companion, Imam Nojeem Jimoh, in a statement on Thursday 30 October, 2025.

“The US lawmaker appears to be acting a script written by some irredeemable blackmailers or, worse still, indulging in a self-serving escapade aimed at attracting shameful and dirty political gains”, the statement continued.

“We caution the US senator against attempting to turn Nigeria into another Gaza through inflammatory rhetoric and divisive narratives.

“While the world has become a global village where no nation can hide genocidal activities, the US will do more for humanity by restraining herself from the complicit role she is playing with Israel in the genocide against the Palestine in Gaza and the middle east region in general where Israel is recklessly attacking sovereign nations at will”, the statement added.
